Ads inside AI answers, bought and measured.

Assistant answers now carry paid space beside the organic one. We manage the paid presence in the engines where it exists and measure both columns with our own software, in the same table, so you can see what the ad adds to the presence you already earned. We call it Two Columns: the two never get merged into one number.

The state of it, engine by engine

Dated August 2026 and updated when the map changes. House rule: we say what exists and where, not what we wish existed.

Google (AI Overviews and AI Mode)LiveBuyable now, in every market Google serves. Ads flow in automatically from Search, Shopping and Performance Max. There is no separate campaign and no opt-in, which also means no way to stay out.
ChatGPTEurope, 24 AugSelf-serve buying through the OpenAI Ads Manager for United States advertisers. Ads reach 31 European markets on 24 August 2026, the EEA and Switzerland, on the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education stay ad-free. Non-personalised at launch: selection uses conversation topic, general location and device type only. Access for advertisers outside the US opens in phases.
Microsoft CopilotUS inventoryAds and Brand Agents since January 2026, on North American inventory. International expansion announced without a date.
Grok (X)BetaAds inside answers in beta, bought through X Ads Manager.
Claude and PerplexityNo adsNo advertising, by public commitment from both companies. The same holds for DeepSeek and Mistral. In these engines the only presence available is the earned one.

What we do

Accounts ready before the inventory opens

Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising accounts structured for the AI formats, with the history and certifications that put a brand at the front of the queue when each channel opens. The account is always yours: if the relationship ends, you keep everything.

Managed where the formats already exist

On Google, the right campaigns with the right data to compete in AI Overviews and AI Mode, including shopping campaigns when there are products. On the newer channels, registration and activation the day they open to your market.

Knowing what the ad adds

The weekly measurement counts earned presence, question by question and engine by engine. Beside it sit the numbers from the ad platforms. Two columns in one table, never summed, because it is the difference between them that tells you whether the spend added reach or whether you are paying for questions you already won for free. That is the arithmetic a media agency has no interest in doing.

And the structural honesty: in half the engines we measure there is no paid space at all. There, earned presence is the only route, which is why AI ads complement the method and never replace it.

The technologyOur own software, pointed at paid

The infrastructure already runs. Now it points at the budget.

The Visibility Tracker puts hundreds of real buyer questions to twelve AI engines and surfaces every week and stores every answer with the sources that fed it. It is our software, in production, and it is what we are extending to the paid layer. And our observatory of the ChatGPT shopping carousel already logs the sponsored items a buyer actually sees, with label, position and price: we see the paid space from the buyer's side, not just from the advertiser's dashboard.

01

Where the ad shows up

We log which questions in your category carry paid formats, in which engine and next to which brands, week by week. It is the same question grid we already run for earned presence.

02

What converts, what does not

We cross paid presence with AI traffic in analytics and the conversions defined in the account. The report separates what converted from what did not, and what each won answer cost.

03

Measurement you cannot buy ready-made

We build the paid measurement layer on the data we already collect every week: paid and earned in the same question grid, measured from your market and in your language. Every euro follows the data: what converts scales, what does not gets cut.

FAQ

Common questions

+Can ads inside AI answers be bought today?

On Google, yes, and without any opt-in: ads enter AI Overviews and AI Mode automatically from the Search, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns you already run. On ChatGPT, the self-serve Ads Manager opened to United States advertisers, and ads reach 31 European markets on 24 August 2026, on the Free and Go plans, non-personalised at launch. Microsoft Copilot has ads and Brand Agents on North American inventory. Grok is in beta through X Ads Manager. Claude and Perplexity carry no ads, by their own public decision.

+How do you tell an ad apart from an organic citation?

Paid blocks arrive labelled (Sponsored) in the surface data. Our weekly measurement keeps two separate columns, presence earned and presence bought. Without that split a paid placement reads as a won citation and the report lies. That rule applies to every account we run, including our own.

+Do ads replace the organic work?

No, and the structure of the market says why. In half the engines we measure (Claude, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Mistral) there is no paid space at all, so organic is the only route to the answer. Ads buy reach where inventory exists; they buy nothing where it does not. A media budget cannot substitute for being the brand the model names.

Start by knowing where you stand, for free.

The free measurement shows which questions your brand already wins organically, before a dollar goes into ads. Without that baseline, no paid investment can be judged.
